Alex Lawsen

Alex is a senior program officer on the AI Governance and Policy team, focusing primarily on technical topics including AI information security, model evaluations, and frontier AI safety policies. He also manages most of the grantmakers on the AI Governance and Policy team. Alex joined Coefficient Giving in August 2023.

Previously, he was an advising manager on the 1-on-1 team at 80,000 Hours, where he now serves on the board. Prior to that, Alex taught mathematics and physics at a specialist sixth-form college in London. Alex writes at lawsen.substack.com and tweets at @lxrjl. He has an M.Phys. in physics from the University of Oxford.
